We invite the competition finalists to present their idea worth spreading in a one-minute pitch, live from the red circle, at our TEDxBrisbane event.
 
Several one-minute pitch finalists have been invited to become TEDxBrisbane speakers at future events.

  1. This competition is a game of skill.  Each entry will be individually judged based on its merit.
  2. Entry is open to individuals who hold a valid ticket to attend TEDxBrisbane 2023 at the time of entry. If a submission is discovered to be from someone who did not hold a valid ticket at the time of entry, or who ceases to hold a valid ticket at any time up to or including, TEDxBrisbane 2023 event day, they will automatically be disqualified.
  3. Applications close Friday 22 September 2023 at 11.59pm.
  4. No members of the TEDxBrisbane organising team (TEDxBrisbane HQ) may enter this competition.
  5. No owners, directors or employees of TEDxBrisbane 2023 partner companies or organisations may enter this competition.
  6. A number of finalists will be selected to deliver their 1-minute pitch on the main stages at TEDxBrisbane 2023.
  7. The number of finalists and the selection of the finalists will be at the sole discretion of members of the TEDxBrisbane team. No correspondence will be entered into.
  8. Promotion commences and closes on the dates shown. Only the finalists will be notified by email and must respond within 48 hours being advised they are finalists, or their presenting slot on the TEDxBrisbane stage may be re-allocated. Relocation will be based on remaining competition entrants.
  9. To enter, entrants must go in person to www.tedxbrisbane.com.au during the open period, answer the required questions and submit a video of their 1-minute pitch presentation.  The video must be of them speaking directly to camera. Incomplete or automated entries will be disqualified. Multiple entries from the same person, same email address or from automated competition entry services are invalid.  
  10. TEDxBrisbane reserves the right to, at any time, verify an entry or entrant and disqualify an entrant TEDxBrisbane has reason to believe has submitted an entry not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
  11. If selected as a finalist, the presentation delivered from stage must use the exact script/wording as presented in the submission, and be delivered in 1-minuter or less.  There are no opportunities for script revisions.
  12. The finalist slot is not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash. Transport to and from an event, the cost of the event ticket (already purchased) and all other ancillary costs are the responsibility of the finalist.
  13. Finalists will receive no coaching prior to the event.
  14. 1-minute pitch scripts must not:
    1. last longer than 60 seconds
    2. contain any commercial agenda, (e.g.: selling from the stage or mentioning product or company names)
    3. include any political agendas or inflammatory language (including us vs them language)
    4. Include any religious agendas
    5. Contain any bad science, or ‘facts’ without highly credible sources that can be independently fact checked.
  15. Finalists must not wear any clothing or bring any items on to stage that would constitute branding or promotion of any commercial, political or religious agendas or to promote, or be seem to promote inflammatory or devisive language or bad science.
  16. TEDxBrisbane reserves the right to rescind the status or any entrant as a finalist should they suspect the finalist intends to breach any of these rules when delivering their pitch.
  17. TEDxBrisbane’s decisions in all aspects relating to this competition, including but not limited to the selection of finalists, and the selection of a winner are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  18. All entries in the competition become the property of TEDxBrisbane. TEDxBrisbane collects personal information from entrants to conduct the competition. Entries may be entered into a database and TEDxBrisbane may use the entrants’ names and addresses for future promotional, marketing and publicity in various forms by TEDxBrisbane, and the entrant consents to such use. Entrants may direct any request to access their personal information to hello@TEDxBrisbane.com.au. Additionally, all literary works submitted as part of an entry become the property of TEDxBrisbane and it is a condition of entry that those literary works may be used by TEDxBrisbane for their own promotional, marketing and publicity purposes without restriction. 
  19. TEDxBrisbane reserves the right to modify, suspend or terminate the competition without notice.
  20. TEDxBrisbane is not liable for any loss (including loss of opportunity) or damage (including, but not limited to, direct, indirect or inconsequential loss) or personal injury in relation to this competition or the use of, or participation in, any prizes that might be offered, including the opportunity for finalists to deliver a 1-minute pitch on the TEDxBrisbane stage.
  21. These Terms & Conditions will bind this and any future entry by you into this competition and may be updated from time to time.
