Voting for the October 14 referendum

All you need to know about casting your referendum vote and attending TEDxBrisbane.

Early voting

Early voting beings Tuesday October 3

We highly recommend early voting. Early polling stations open from 3 October. To find an early polling station that is closest to you visit the AEC website.

Postal voting

Postal voting is available for anyone not able to make it to vote in-person, either on voting day or during the early voting period. To postal vote you must submit an application for the postal vote pack, complete it and return it to the AEC. Applications for postal vote pack must be received by the AEC before 6pm on Wednesday 11 October 2023. However it is highly preferred by the AEC to submit your applications earlier.

For more details on eligibility, online application, and how to postal vote, visit the AEC website.

Voting on the day

With the tight TEDxBrisbane program we’re offering in 2023 we recommend voting before the day. However if you are unable to vote early the polling station closest to the TEDxBrisbane venue open on the day is Brisbane State High School, 150 Vulture St, South Brisbane. It is approximately a 15 minute, 950 metre walk from the TEDxBrisbane 2023 venue, which is the Edmund Rice Performing Arts Centre (ERPAC) at St Laurence’s College, 58 Stephens Rd, South Brisbane.

See below for more detail.
